38 people were detained in 17 provinces centered in Aydın on charges of fraud through fake websites. It was alleged that the suspects committed fraud by creating counterfeits of internet sales platforms and converted the criminal income of 1 billion 49 million 174 thousand liras into cryptocurrency.
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by Nazilli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate organized a simultaneous operation to addresses in Aydın, İzmir, İstanbul, Hatay, Ankara, Sakarya, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Manisa, Bartın, Tekirdağ, Van, Balıkesir, Sivas, Samsun, Kütahya and Uşak.

During the operation, 38 people were detained on charges of “qualified fraud by using information systems and laundering proceeds of crime through crypto assets”.
It was learned that the suspects committed fraud by creating fakes with the interface and connection addresses of the websites where products are sold, and that they promised to sell goods by introducing themselves as soldiers, police officers or public officials on social media platforms.
It was determined that the suspects tried to launder the revenues they obtained from these crimes by converting them into cryptocurrencies, and as a result of the studies carried out with MASAK, it was determined that 1 billion 49 million 174 thousand liras of cryptocurrency transactions were made in this way.
