According to a survey conducted by the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), the professions that need the most personnel in the field of digital transformation have become clear. Among the professions with the highest expected decrease in employment with digital transformation, vehicle acceptance officer, graphic design operator, advertising and design element came to the fore.

İŞKUR conducted a survey covering 86 thousand 41 workplaces across Turkey between June 5 and July 14, 2023 and prepared a report titled “General Outlook of the Labor Market in the Scope of Digital Transformation”. This research examined employers’ view of digital transformation and its impact on employment in detail.

According to the report, while 32 percent of employers state that digital transformation is important for their businesses, this rate increases to 57.4 percent in workplaces with 20 or more employees. Especially workplaces that carry out research and development (R&D) activities, plan investments and expect an increase in employment express that they need digital transformation tools more.

As a result of the research, it was observed that there is an increasing demand for positions such as computerized accounting staff, social media specialist, e-commerce professional staff in the digital transformation process. On the other hand, employment is expected to decrease in areas such as graphic design operator and advertising design.

Digital transformation is seen by employers as a major benefit, especially in departments such as sales and marketing, customer service, accounting and human resources. Employers emphasize skills such as the use of technology, innovative thinking, coordination and time management among their expectations from employees.

The vast majority of participating employers (79.5%) stated that digital transformation did not cause any change in the number of employees, while 17 percent stated that employment increased and 3.5 percent stated that it decreased. In workplaces with 20 or more employees, significant progress has been made in digital transformation in the last year, with 62.4% of them reporting an increase.

Digital transformation shows that significant progress has been made in areas such as accounting transactions, online marketing, production processes, logistics, inventory management, customer service, R&D and online trainings.
