Making statements before the Sinan Ateş trial, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç said, “The indictment is publicly available. Therefore, we should not take this to any side.”

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç made statements before the AK Party Group Meeting. Speaking about the July 1 Sinan Ateş case, Tunç said, “The issues that are the subject of the judiciary, our independent and impartial judiciary completed the investigation and proceeded to the prosecution phase. In this prosecution phase, it is our judges and prosecutors who will evaluate this. We will wait for that process together. It is already publicly available in the indictment. Therefore, we should not take this to any side, this way or that way, and we should not make some manipulations to draw political conclusions from this. We should wait for the decision of the impartial and independent judiciary.”

9th judicial package

“Regarding the 9th Judicial Package, we are accelerating the efficiency of the judiciary and the functioning of judicial services. There are important regulations for a more effective, more urgent judicial system. Of course, there are some articles that require some work. Work on this is ongoing in our parliamentary group. We, as the Ministry of Justice, have worked on a draft, which will be turned into a proposal after the evaluations of our deputies are completed.”

“There is no such thing as an impact agency”

Commenting on the “influence agency”, Minister Tunç said, “There is no such thing as an influence agency. The work reflected in the public was conveyed differently. This is an arrangement to eliminate a problem arising from this practice. Otherwise, there is no truth in the assessment that those who conduct research in Turkey will be penalized. It is an arrangement to punish them for both violation of personal data and espionage. And we think that no one will object to this regulation. Therefore, it is misrepresented to the public. In other words, a perception is being created as if someone who conducts research in Turkey, who reports on an issue in Turkey will be penalized. This perception is not true.”
