According to preliminary forecasts by the Ministry of Agriculture of Burkina Faso, the country’s grain production is expected to reach 6,077,227 tons during the 2024/2025 agricultural season.
This figure represents an 18% increase compared to the previous season and a 21.4% rise compared to the five-year average.
The Ministry attributes this growth to favorable climatic conditions. With this projected production level, it is anticipated that the country’s grain needs will be 111% met, marking a significant improvement compared to the 97% coverage rate from the previous season.
Experts believe that the increased grain production will not only strengthen food security within the country but also potentially contribute to regional trade through a production surplus.
