On Tuesday afternoon, November 12, 2024, Minister of Education Dr. Elisabeth Şerif initiated the dispatch of the second batch of school supplies for the 2024-2025 school year, in collaboration with the educational community. She expressed her pleasure and gratitude as she celebrated this second departure for the benefit of children, alongside the education sector. The minister thanked the highest authorities of Niger, led by President General Abdourahamane Tiani, for their determination to rebuild the country’s education system and make it a cornerstone of national sovereignty. She also praised the solidarity of the government, under Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, and all members of the CNSP involved in the purchase of these supplies funded by the State. “This reflects the determination of our country’s highest authorities to ensure that our children can rely on our own resources, with honor,” she stated. While thanking all partners for their involvement, she called on the educational community to use the supplies in a rational, transparent, and responsible manner for the benefit of the nation’s schools.
During the initial launch, the most remote regions such as Diffa and Agadez were prioritized, but this time, Niamey received a shipment of 80 tons. The minister thanked the patience of the educational community, who continued to teach with the limited resources available to them. Civil society actor Mr. Bizo Moussa emphasized the role of education in strengthening the country’s independence and expressed support for the authorities in restoring the dignity of Niger’s schools. He also encouraged all government actors to continue their efforts, praising the ministry’s initiative as a vital step in building national sovereignty.
