Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that they welcome Turkey’s interest in BRICS.
Peskov made statements on current issues to journalists in the capital Moscow.
Commenting on Turkey’s approach towards BRICS, Peskov said:
“We welcome the growing interest of neighboring states, including important partners like Turkey, in BRICS. Of course, this interest will be on the agenda of the BRICS summit under the Russian presidency. The organization may not be able to meet all the interests of all countries wishing to join, but BRICS is interested in maintaining contacts with all interested states.”
“This is a time-consuming process, but we welcome such intense interest,” Peskov said, adding that various formats are being worked on.
A meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS countries will be held in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, on June 10-11.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had also stated that he would attend the BRICS meeting planned to be held in Russia next week.
