Many national and international rowing organizations will be organized on the Evros River this year.
After TED Edirne College established a rowing club three years ago and organized rowing festivals on the river, the natural course feature of the Meriç River attracted the attention of the international rowing community.
With the support of the Turkish Rowing Federation, the course became known in the international community and became one of the candidate centers in a short time.
The World Rowing Federation (FISA) delegation examined the Meriç River, which was shown as a candidate course for the European Rowing Championship.
As a result of the voting held during the races held in Czech Republic last year, Turkey won the right to host the course races, beating Germany and Italy.
Edirne, which took this title from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, which is the last course in Europe in a sense, will host many national and international events this year.
According to the program of the Turkish Rowing Federation, Junior Turkey Cup and Masters Races will be held on July 10-16, Edirne Junior Turkey Championship Rowing Races and Turkey Masters Championship Rowing Races on August 14-20, U23 European Championships on September 02-11 and Balkan Championships on September 12-16 will be held in Edirne.
