A Palestinian flag was hung on the government building in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.
The Palestinian flag was placed next to the flags of the European Union (EU) and Slovenia after the Slovenian government decided to recognize the State of Palestine.
Slovenian government decides to recognize the State of Palestine
The Slovenian government considered the article on the recognition of the State of Palestine in a session held yesterday.
Prime Minister Robert Golob said after the session that they had decided to recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state with 1967 borders in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
Golob also said that they would convey this decision to the parliament and asked for support from the deputies.
The Slovenian Parliament is expected to meet next week to discuss the article on the recognition of the State of Palestine.
Meanwhile, Spain, Norway and Ireland also decided to officially recognize Palestine on May 28.
