The Prime Minister of Niger, Mr. Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, met with Mr. Mohamed Moussa, Director General of the Agency for Air Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA).

The Director General of the Agency for Air Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA), Mr. Mohamed Moussa, a Nigerien national, visited Niger’s authorities to present a report on the state of the organization, of which Niger is a member. His visit also marked a farewell as his term in office comes to an end.

“I was particularly eager to report to Niger’s authorities on the state in which I found ASECNA and the state in which I am leaving it,” he said, noting that he received congratulations from the Prime Minister for the achievements made during his eight-year tenure.

Mr. Mohamed Moussa emphasized that Niger has fulfilled its commitments to ASECNA admirably. He highlighted that the most significant project during his tenure was a technical achievement: “Managing to monitor 17 million square kilometers via satellite in eight years is undoubtedly the most symbolic project we have accomplished here in Niger.”

He further stated, “All commitments made on behalf of Niger at the time of my election have been honored. We have an official decision from the Council of Ministers recognizing that we have fulfilled our mission and respected the commitments made.”

Before congratulating the Nigerien government for its trust, he added, “The State of Niger, through my role, has fulfilled its commitments to the other member states of ASECNA. Niger’s authorities supported me in my mission as head of this organization.”

It is worth recalling that ASECNA, established on December 12, 1959, in Saint-Louis, Senegal, is responsible for ensuring the safety of air navigation across African airspace.
