A verdict was issued for social media phenomenon Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, who have been in prison since November on charges of ‘money laundering’ and ‘tax evasion’.
Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had launched an investigation against Engin Polat and Dilan Polat on charges of “Establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime”, “Prevention of laundering proceeds of crime”, “Laundering assets derived from crime” and “Opposition to tax law”.
Dilan and Engin Polat and other suspects in the investigation were arrested on November 5 and sent to prison.
According to the news in Sabah, the monthly detention review of the suspects, including Dilan and Engin Polat, who have been in prison for about 6 months, was carried out.
The prosecutor’s office sent the file to the Istanbul Anatolian Criminal Judgeship of Peace for a monthly detention review.
MONTHLY REVIEW BEFORE FORENSIC REPORT
Dilan Polat, a detainee at Bakırköy Women’s Closed Penal Institution, was alleged to have injured herself with a sharp instrument in the past days, and Polat was then referred to Forensic Medicine. Polat’s lawyer, on the other hand, stated that his client had health problems and injured herself with a sharp instrument, that her health problems were dangerous, and requested her release on the grounds that it was not convenient for her to remain in prison.
DETENTION WILL CONTINUE
While waiting for the medical report from Forensic Medicine in the ongoing Polatlar investigation, the monthly detention review was evaluated by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on duty.
The judge decided to continue the detention of all suspects, including Dilan and Engin Polat.
