In Buca district of Izmir, İbrahim Köçer (52), who allegedly had bipolar disorder, committed suicide by hanging himself after strangling his wife Nurtaç Köçer (45) to death. Y.K. (22), one of the couple’s children, who came home to a horrible scene after the incident, wailed, “How will I forget this scene?”
The incident occurred around 19.30 on the 2nd floor of a 4-storey apartment building on Gaziosmanpaşa Street. İbrahim Köçer, who is allegedly from Diyarbakır and moved to Izmir from Turgutlu district of Manisa, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Köçer, a father of 3 children who worked for a private transportation company and allegedly had not been taking his medication for a while, sent his daughters N.K. (26) and E.K. (9) away from home and then strangled his wife Nurtaç Köçer to death after an argument over an unspecified reason. İbrahim Köçer ended his life by hanging himself with a rope on the balcony of the house after the incident.
‘HOW WILL I FORGET THIS SCENE’
Y.K., one of the children of the couple who worked in a transportation company like his father, came home after work and saw a horrible scene. Y.K., who saw the lifeless bodies of his mother inside the house and his father hanging from a rope on the balcony, had a nervous breakdown. Hearing Y.K.’s cries of “How will I forget this scene”, his neighbors informed 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the address. The bodies of Koçer couple were taken to Izmir Forensic Medicine Institution morgue after the examination of the prosecutor. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
