The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Public Security, and Regional Administration, Brigadier General Mohamed Toumba, sent a message for the third celebration of Community Role Day.
This year’s event took place under the theme “The Flexible and Determined Role of Communities in Affirming Our Sovereignty.” General Toumba emphasized the crucial role of community efforts, especially under difficult circumstances, in the development of Niger’s society, reminding that November 10 was declared National Community Role Day through a decree in 2022. He highlighted that the purpose of the day is to honor and promote the work of volunteers contributing to public welfare. In the aftermath of the events of July 26, 2023, community roles continued to seek solutions alongside the people. The theme was chosen to align with the vision of General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the National Homeland Protection Council, aiming to make Niger a modern, peaceful, and prosperous country. The Minister also noted that the National Voluntary Development Agency (ANVD) had developed a reference guide to enhance the effectiveness of community activities and strengthen collaborations, including with Burkina Faso and Mali.
