Millions of retirees are closely following the new regulations. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan recently announced new supports for retirees in many areas from health to travel, from communication to transportation. As a first step, special discounts for pensioners were introduced.
The regulation providing 15 percent discount for pensioners in public social facilities was published in the Official Gazette. This regulation, which entered into force with the President’s decree, envisages a 15 percent discount until the end of the year in social facilities belonging to public institutions for pensioners who receive income and monthly payments within the scope of the SSI law.
What is in the support package for retirees? The new practices clarified for retirees are as follows:
The Credit and Dormitories Institution will make its dormitories available to retirees free of charge for one month during the summer months.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports will open its facilities to all retirees free of charge.
Pensioners will be able to benefit from public guesthouses, teachers’ houses, social facilities and guest houses in all provinces with a 15 percent discount, just like public servants.
PTTcell has created a special package for pensioners and special discounts will be offered to pensioners at PTT Kargo.
Pensioners will be offered a 10 percent discount on TCDD main line trains.
Within the scope of protocols with TROY and banks, discounts will be applied in clothing stores within the upper limit determined for bill payments made with pensioner cards, pharmacy and market expenditures.
Pensioners will be offered additional discounts and advantages in communication, transportation, chain markets and online marketplaces with various agreements.
