In Edirne, 14 illegal immigrants, including women and children, were caught in a Bulgarian-registered car that ran away after disobeying the police’s ‘stop’ warning and crashed into a police vehicle during the pursuit. The driver and 2 people in the car fled on foot.
Police teams on patrol in Edirne issued a ‘stop’ warning to the driver of the car with Bulgarian license plate CB 2356 TH, which had a record of being used in migrant smuggling, on the South Ring Road in İstasyon Neighborhood at midnight.
After the driver of the car did not obey the ‘stop’ warning and fled, public order and traffic teams followed the vehicle. The car, which was intercepted during the pursuit, hit the police vehicle.
While the driver and 2 people fled on foot, 14 illegal immigrants from Syria, Palestine and Iraq, including women and children, were caught in the car and 1 rubber boat was seized.
While the illegal immigrants were taken to the police station after undergoing a health check at Sultan 1. Murat State Hospital, an operation was launched to catch the 3 people who fled.
