Helium gas balloons exploded during a graduation celebration at a high school in Gaziantep. The moments of the explosion and the subsequent flames were reflected on the cell phone camera for seconds, and 8 students suffered burns in various parts.
The incident occurred at Ayıntap Anatolian High School in Şahinbey district. Allegedly, helium gas balloons exploded for an unknown reason during the graduation celebration of the 2023-2024 academic year at the school. After the explosion, flames covered the surrounding area and 6 students who were near the explosion area were injured. While 6 of the students with burns on various parts of their bodies were treated on an outpatient basis, 2 students were hospitalized after the first intervention by the medical teams that arrived at the scene.

While it was learned that the students were in good condition, the moment when the helium gas balloons exploded was captured on a cell phone camera for seconds. In the footage, the explosion of the helium gas balloons and the flames that erupted while students and parents were together drew attention. While those who were present at the scene experienced great panic at those moments, a female student who was affected by the explosion and burned on her face ran left and right in pain.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
