The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against former football player Batuhan Karadeniz for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend Aleyna Eroğlu in a hotel was held. As Batuhan Karadeniz did not attend the hearing, it was decided to issue an arrest warrant in his absence at the next hearing.
Aleyna Eroğlu said, “I didn’t shut up, I won’t shut up, my complaint is still ongoing. I hope I can be a pioneer to everyone who is victimized in this situation.”
According to Aleyna Eroğlu’s testimony, on the day of the incident, she had gone to Batuhan Karadeniz to ask for the money she had lent him before and was beaten by him that day. The testimony of the receptionist was also taken into consideration in the hearing.
The court ordered Batuhan Karadeniz to be present at the next hearing and issued a warrant for his arrest if he fails to attend the hearing.
In her statement after the hearing, Aleyna Eroğlu stated that she will not keep silent and her complaint continues. Her lawyer also stated that Batuhan Karadeniz was charged with threat, intentional injury and insult.
In the indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, it was stated that Batuhan Karadeniz injured Aleyna Eroğlu in a way that can be eliminated by simple medical intervention. A prison sentence of up to 4 years and 6 months was requested for Batuhan Karadeniz on the charges of ‘intentional injury’ and ‘threatening in a chain’.
Aleyna Eroğlu’s allegations and experiences about Batuhan Karadeniz had a wide echo on social media. Eroğlu stated that he received a battering report and filed a complaint. These statements of Aleyna Eroğlu started an important discussion on preventing and stopping violence against women.
