Regarding the issue of stray dogs, which came to the agenda at the AK Party’s FMC meeting, President Erdoğan instructed his staff, “Finalize this issue as soon as possible. Finalize the working text as soon as possible and present it to me.”
The issue of stray dogs was also on the agenda of the AK Party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting held the previous day. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı shared current data on stray animals.
AK Party Parliamentary Group Chairman Abdullah Güler explained the final point reached in the study.
Instruction from Erdoğan: Conclude this work as soon as possible
According to the news in Türkiye Newspaper, upon President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s cautious approach to the issue of ‘putting to sleep’, Güler stated that this was already in Law No. 5199 and that the scope would be expanded for public safety. Upon this, Erdoğan said, “Finalize this work as soon as possible. Finish the working text as soon as possible and present it to me”.
During the meeting, the role of local governments in this issue and increasing the quality and quality of shelters were also on the agenda. It was emphasized that the problem cannot be solved only by taking dogs to shelters and that it is important to improve the facilities and conditions in shelters. On the other hand, it was stated that the proposal will be submitted to the Presidency of the Parliament before the Parliament closes.
