The geographically marked vineyard leaf produced in Tokat’s Erbaa district is expected to yield 15 thousand tons this year.
Erbaa narince vineyard leaf, which is produced on 21 thousand decares of land in the district and received geographical indication registration in 2017, is known for its unique aroma, thin and delicate structure.
The leaf harvest, which started in May, is planned to last until mid-July.
Erbaa Mayor Ertuğrul Karagöl, who visited the workers harvesting the leaves, told reporters that the season was rainy at the beginning of the season this year, and that they saw that production had reached a better level with the warming of the weather.
Stating that around 15 thousand tons of production is expected this year, Karagöl said, “This will provide more or less 2 billion liras of income to our city. We are also happy in that respect. We send our registered leaf to all parts of the world as well as the country. Hopefully, our farmers will smile in this season as well.”
