The air temperature and humidity in Mersin, one of Turkey’s most important tourism centers with a coast of 321 kilometers to the Mediterranean Sea, is above seasonal norms. As the temperature continues to increase, the intensity that started at tourism spots on the holiday has decreased by 50 percent. Families coming to the holiday spots, especially from neighboring provinces for a day or a few days, cool off in the sea with their children and have fun moments. In Kızkalesi, where various water sports are also held, it was noted that the number of people coming on vacation decreased by 50 percent compared to the holiday week, but the occupancy rates are expected to increase to 100 percent by July.
Stating that in the past years they went to vacation spots such as Antalya and Muğla, İpek Kırtaş said, “This year we came to Mersin. Mersin’s sea water likes warm children, it felt good,” she said.
Sevim Çelebi, who stated that they come to Mersin for vacation every year, said, “We come from Nevşehir, a 3-hour drive. That is why we come every year at every opportunity.”
