Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi arrived in Dublin for a high-level visit aimed at strengthening ties between Egypt and Ireland. The visit comes as the two nations explore deeper collaboration in diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian fields.
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdel Aati, accompanying the president, stated that the visit includes meetings with Irish leaders to discuss critical issues. Foremost among these is the Palestinian cause, given Ireland’s recognition of the Palestinian state and its advocacy for a resolution to the crisis. Other pressing regional issues, including the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and ongoing conflicts in Syria and Sudan, are also priorities on the agenda.
Beyond diplomacy, the visit highlights economic collaboration. Abdel Aati emphasized President Sisi’s commitment to attracting foreign investment, following recent engagements with major companies from Denmark and Norway. The Dublin visit focuses on fostering partnerships with Irish firms and expanding economic opportunities in Egypt.
Addressing the Syrian crisis, Abdel Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the aspirations of the Syrian people, emphasizing the need for a peaceful and inclusive political transition that reflects the nation’s diverse social, religious, and ethnic fabric. “The transition process must be Syrian-led and owned, ensuring it reflects the collective will of the people,” he stated.
This visit underscores Egypt’s commitment to both domestic development and resolving regional challenges through diplomacy and collaboration.
