Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 83 poison dealers and street vendors were captured and 28 of them were arrested in ‘Narcoçelik-24’ operations organized in 13 provinces.
In a statement made on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya stated that operations were carried out by Provincial Gendarmerie Commands in Adıyaman, Ağrı, Antalya, Bingöl, Diyarbakır, İstanbul, Aydın, Erzurum, Ankara, Van, Mersin, Kırklareli and Gaziantep under the coordination of Chief Public Prosecutors’ Offices and Gendarmerie General Command Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department.
Stating that 911 kilograms of drugs, 10 million 995 thousand root cannabis and root skunk and 13 thousand drug pills were seized in the operations, Yerlikaya noted that 28 of the 83 poison dealers and street vendors caught in the operations were arrested, 17 of them were given judicial control decisions and 5 of them are still being processed.
Minister Yerlikaya said, “We are determined to clean our country from poison dealers and street vendors. We will never allow them to poison our young people, who are our bright future.”
