Former general Çetin Doğan, one of the defendants in the February 28 trial, who was pardoned with the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was released from Buca Kırıklar F Type Prison No. 1.
Following the publication in the Official Gazette of President Erdoğan’s decision to lift the remaining sentences of 14 convicts, including some convicts of the February 28 case, due to their permanent illness and old age, Çetin Doğan’s procedures at Izmir F Type Closed Prison No. 1 were completed. After his release, Doğan embraced those who welcomed him in front of the prison and expressed his happiness to be reunited with his wife and friends.
Fevzi Türkeri, Yıldırım Türker, Cevat Temel Özkaynak, Erol Özkasnak, Çevik Bir, Haci Sülük, Aliefter Aslan, Avni Yılmaz, Sevda Yüksel, Gülbey Sarıoğlu, Süleyman Tuna, Abdulhekim Yılmaz and Aydan Erol are among other names whose sentences were lifted according to President Erdoğan’s amnesty decision.
