Cerba Lancet Nigeria has made a significant contribution to Nigeria’s healthcare sector with the opening of its state-of-the-art reference laboratory in Lagos.
This development aims to set new standards in medical testing and preventive care. The company seeks to drive significant transformation in the healthcare system by focusing on early detection and advanced diagnostic technologies.
Professor Akin Abayomi, Commissioner for Health of Lagos State, emphasized the potential of the facility to transform healthcare delivery during the opening ceremony. “Testing before treatment is crucial. Laboratories, when used to define treatment strategies, can prevent the misuse of antimicrobials and reduce the burden of preventable diseases,” he said. Abayomi also highlighted the importance of increasing local testing capacity to reduce dependency on foreign laboratories and provide faster, more cost-effective diagnoses.
Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, praised Cerba Lancet Nigeria’s initiative, calling it a significant “game-changer” for Nigerians. He urged the establishment of partnerships with universities to promote medical research and training, contributing to healthcare improvements.
Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, CEO of Cerba Lancet Nigeria, expressed the company’s commitment to preventive healthcare, especially in the early detection of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. “Preventive care not only improves health outcomes but also eases the financial burden on individuals and the healthcare system,” Dawodu said. He also highlighted the company’s collaboration with Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and local communities to make diagnostic services more accessible and affordable.
Cerba Lancet Nigeria’s launch is seen as a significant step towards improving healthcare quality in Nigeria. The company continues to pursue its mission to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and extend life expectancy.
