The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in April increased by 107 percent compared to the same month last year and reached 1 trillion 127.8 billion liras.

Accordingly, as of April, the number of credit cards in Turkey was 122.1 million, debit cards 190.6 million and prepaid cards 93.7 million.
On an annual basis, the number of credit cards increased by 15 percent, the number of debit cards by 8 percent and the number of prepaid cards by 21 percent. The total number of cards increased by 13 percent to 406.4 million.
930.4 BILLION LIAR OF CARD PAYMENTS WERE MADE WITH CREDIT CARDS
The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in April increased by 107 percent compared to the same month last year and reached 1 trillion 127.8 billion liras.
Of the card payments, 930.4 billion lira was made with credit cards, 175.8 billion lira with debit cards and 21.6 billion lira with prepaid cards.
On an annual basis, payment amounts increased by 120 percent in credit cards, 56 percent in debit cards and 130 percent in prepaid cards.
THE AMOUNT OF PAYMENTS MADE WITH CARDS VIA THE INTERNET REACHED 306.5 BILLION LIRAS
The total number of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in April increased by 25 percent compared to the same month last year and reached 1.46 billion.
While credit cards were used in 823.6 million, debit cards in 535.6 million and prepaid cards in 104.3 million of card payments, the rate of increase was 28 percent, 19 percent and 43 percent, respectively.

94.1 BILLION LIRA IN PAYMENTS DURING RAMADAN
94.1 billion lira was paid with cards on the eve of April 9-12 and during the Ramadan Feast period.
In the market sector, which is the sector with the highest expenditure, 20 percent of total card payments were made. This sector was followed by clothing with 14 percent, food with 11 percent, fuel stations with 10 percent and various food sectors with 8 percent.
The highest increase in card payments made during the holiday was realized in the accommodation sector with 151 percent. This sector was followed by travel agencies with 140 percent, jewelry with 135 percent, fuel stations with 132 percent and the contracting sector with 122 percent.
On the eve day, 37 billion liras of card payments were made. This amount constituted the majority of the payments during the holiday period.
