Burkina Faso has announced plans to acquire 500 new buses to facilitate transportation for students and the general public.
The government led by Interim President Ibrahim Traoré has planned this purchase as part of its efforts to improve the quality of education in the country.
During the Council of Ministers meeting on December 5, an agreement worth approximately 44.87 billion CFA francs (around $67 million) was approved with the companies SANA Rasmané and WEND NA SONGDO INDUSTRIE SARL. The funding will be sourced from government resources and supported by VISTA BANK.
The buses will be delivered to SOTRACO, the country’s public transport service provider. The project is seen as a significant step toward facilitating student access to schools and strengthening intercity transport overall.
