Burkina Faso President Captain Ibrahim Traoré visited an agricultural project being carried out at Camp Naba-Koom 2.
The President inspected this initiative, which was launched in its pilot phase by the Presidential Guard, covering an area of one hectare with 60,000 pineapple plants.
This project is part of the Agricultural and Fisheries Assault Program, led by President Traoré, which aims to enhance the army’s contribution to development. During the visit, Traoré stated, “The army should not be limited to using weapons. It must also actively contribute to the development of our country.”
Commander of the Presidential Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Souleymane Zango, explained that the soldiers involved in the project had been trained on a local farm, and the first harvest is planned for November 2025.
In addition to pineapple farming, experimental work is being conducted on other strategic products such as coffee, cocoa, avocado, and cola at the camp. A total of 8 hectares of land have been allocated for these crops.
These initiatives highlight Burkina Faso’s military’s commitment to diversifying its contributions to sustainable development and using agricultural production as a strategic tool for development.
