In the animal markets in Ankara, sacrifice prices are asked to be paid with IBAN against fraud with fake money. Breeders ask those who buy sacrifices to send the price of sacrifices via IBAN against fraud with counterfeit money.
Breeders coming to the capital city from many provinces of Turkey put their bovine and ovine animals on sale in the market.
The sacrificial sale market opened in Bağlum Karşıyaka Neighborhood of Keçiören, where cattle are sold for 50 to 215 thousand liras and small cattle for 8 to 20 thousand liras, is the scene of fierce bargaining between citizens and sellers.
Breeder Sedat Yayla stated that he sold 60 of the 75 animals he brought from Kırşehir.
Yayla said that this year he asked his customers to pay via IBAN against fraud with fake money and added, “They say, ‘Something will happen to us from IBAN. But since there is fake money here, we say, ‘Send it from IBAN, write the cost of the sacrifice, nothing will happen.”
“Input costs are high”
The breeder İsa Danacı said that he came from Çubuk and that the sacrifice sales were good every year, but this year it was a bit stagnant.
Explaining that he came to the market with 600 small cattle, Danacı said, “We brought our sacrifices for the people of Ankara. We are here for them. At this stage, we have nearly 100 sales, but we are waiting.”
Stating that sacrifices have a certain value and labor, Danacı said, “Input costs are high. Therefore, our costs here are not like a butcher’s fee when the costs of our caretaker friends are added.”
Danacı noted that the price of ovine animals varies according to their weight and age.
Ercan Gülle, a breeder who brought his cattle from Çankırı, said he sold 8 of the 28 animals in the tent.
Stating that citizens are still waiting to buy sacrifices, Gülle stated that the market will be busier at the weekend.
Gülle emphasized that sending the sacrifice price via IBAN is good for them against fraud with fake money.
The heaviest in the market is 1 ton
Emrah Bulut, the owner of the heaviest sacrifice in the market with about 1 ton, from Kağızman district of Kars, reported that he sold 35 of his 50 cattle.
Bulut, who explained that he came to the market about 15 days ago, noted that the intensity was good in the first days, but now citizens are waiting for the last time.
Stating that feed prices are high, Bulut said, “Therefore, we cannot reduce the market. More precisely, we cannot give cheap prices because the costs are high. They hope that animal prices will drop on Sunday, and we hope it will be better that day.”
Bulut said that he sold his sacrifice, which weighs about 1 ton, for 212 thousand liras.
