Since April 19, 2024, Soumana Seyni Abdoul Wahab has been the President of the Niamey Regional Youth Council (CRJN), embodying values that transform challenges into opportunities, mobilize energies, and build autonomous youth.

In his thirties, married, and a father of two, Abdoul Wahab previously served as a parliamentary administrator in the National Assembly until its dissolution.
“I was a parliamentary administrator, and after the dissolution, I decided to revive my businesses and invest in a farm while continuing my entrepreneurial activities,” he said.

Born in a challenging environment, Abdoul Wahab understood early the importance of collective action to transform society. His mission is clear: to empower the youth of Niamey while contributing to a sustainable and inclusive future.
“Since being elected, I’ve dedicated myself to the Council’s activities. In my spare time, I focus on recycling and managing my farm,” he shared, noting his “very busy social life,” which includes honoring social invitations and engaging in community service.

Key Achievements in Youth Empowerment

Since taking office, Abdoul Wahab has implemented innovative initiatives to benefit Niamey’s youth. Among his significant efforts:

Advocacy for Youth Access to Farmland: Working with the Ministry of Youth Entrepreneurship, 900 hectares of land were allocated under the PIDAGE program, providing opportunities for sustainable modern agriculture.

Youth Consultations: In collaboration with the UNDP, these consultations allowed young people to express priorities like civic education and capacity building, reinforcing their role in national development.

Niamey Youth Forum: Organized under the theme “Youth Contributions to Peace and Civic Responsibility,” the event fostered dialogue on these critical issues.

Economic Empowerment Programs: Training programs have reached over 150 youths, equipping them with digital and financial skills. Plans to scale up to 500 participants are underway.

Sanitation Coordination: Monthly campaigns mobilize hundreds of youths to improve living conditions in Niamey.

Disaster Relief Brigade: Established during recent floods to assist affected communities, showcasing a commitment to humanitarian efforts.

Youth Employment and Digital Projects: The launch of a database of NGOs and associations and a new website enhance communication and support for local initiatives.

A Catalyst for Change

Abdoul Wahab’s pragmatic leadership has positioned the Niamey Regional Youth Council as a driving force for transformation. His collaborative approach leverages a dedicated team, ensuring the success and sustainability of initiatives.

This dynamic was recently demonstrated through the strategic action plan presented to Niamey Governor Brigadier General Assoumane Abdou Harouna. The plan prioritizes youth empowerment, social cohesion, and sustainable development in the region.

Abdoul Wahab’s vision is clear: youth are not only the future but also the present, ready to shape a better world today.
