A fire that started near the garbage dump in Ayvalık district of Balıkesir has spread to the maquis area. The flames, which are growing with the effect of the strong winds, are moving towards the forested area where Sarımsaklı beach is located. The fire is being fought by 4 airplanes and 2 helicopters of the Ministry of Forestry from the air and 5 land vehicles, 2 water supply vehicles, 2 first response vehicles, construction equipment and 60 personnel on the ground.
According to the information obtained, the fire that started near the garbage dump in Ayvalık spread to the maquis area with the effect of the wind. In a short time, the flames spread over a large area due to the ignited grass and started to threaten the forest area. The fire, which is moving towards the area where Sarımsaklı beach is located, is being intervened by 4 airplanes and 2 helicopters of the Ministry of Forestry from the air and 5 land vehicles, 2 water supply vehicles, 2 first response vehicles, construction equipment and 60 personnel on the ground. While the extinguishing efforts, including the teams of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and Ayvalık Municipality, continue, it is reported that the fire is moving rapidly in the direction of Küçükköy and Sarımsaklı due to the strong wind.
