Parliament, which will open today with a busy agenda after the nine-day Eid al-Adha holiday, is scheduled to work until the end of July.
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey’s agenda includes the economy and the ninth judicial package. The new tax package, which includes the implementation of minimum corporate tax and minimum income tax, is expected to be presented to the Parliament next week.
Cryptocurrency market
The regulation on crypto assets is expected to be discussed first in the General Assembly of the Parliament next week. The proposal aims to increase transparency in the cryptocurrency market and protect investors, as well as impose heavy sanctions on platforms that do not comply with the rules.
Rules for boarding an airplane are changing
The proposal, which envisages some new regulations in the field of transportation, will be discussed in the general assembly before the Parliament goes into recess. According to this proposal, all passengers will be searched with a device at airport entrances. In cases where the device search is insufficient, a manual search will be conducted.
Introduction of minimum corporate tax and minimum income tax
The tax package to be submitted by the AKP to the Parliament envisages the introduction of a minimum corporate tax and a minimum income tax. The proposal also envisages the abolition of some VAT exemptions, the reorganization of the SCT discount on vehicle purchases for the disabled, an increase in the departure fee abroad, and an increase in some tax penalties as part of the fight against the informal economy.
Motorcyclists, R&D personnel
The tax package also includes an increase in the whistleblower bonuses given to those who report tax evaders, taxation of the income earned by motorcyclists and an upper limit on the wage exemption applied to R&D personnel.
The new proposal aims to abolish the VAT exemption on feed, fertilizer, health services provided to foreigners, printed books and periodicals.
9th judicial package
Before the Parliament goes into recess, the 9th Judicial Package, which includes a new crime in the Turkish Penal Code to effectively combat espionage activities and regulations to eliminate the perception of impunity, will be enacted into law. Accordingly, a minimum of 30 days in prison will be required to benefit from supervised release. Currently, people sentenced to two years or less are not imprisoned. In order to eliminate the perception of impunity in society, convicts will be required to stay in prison for 30 days in order to benefit from supervised release.
According to Türkiye daily, the proposal will also remove the offense of insult from the scope of reconciliation and include it in the scope of prepayment. The fine will now be paid to the state.
The three-year waiting period after a divorce case is rejected will be reduced to one year. The Constitutional Court had canceled this provision on the grounds that the three-year period imposed an unbearable burden on the parties.
