Fires broke out in the north of the city due to rockets fired by Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to Israel’s official television channel KAN, reinforcements have been requested to control the fires in the north of the country.
Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Avi Dichter said in a statement, “Unfortunately, it is not possible to control the fire, 30 thousand people had to leave their homes until now and the fire reached the center.”
The air temperature exceeded 43 degrees Celsius
Yediot Ahronot reported that 6 firefighters were injured during efforts to control fires in the Kiryat Shmona area of the northern Upper Galilee.
The newspaper reported that the temperature in Kiryat Shmona and the Taboriyya region exceeded 43 degrees Celsius, and that 15 fire spots were observed in the Galilee and Golan (occupied Syria) regions alone.
“The north is on fire, burning”
On the other hand, Yair Lapid, the main opposition leader in the country, said in a post on the X platform regarding the fire, “The North is on fire, Israel’s deterrence is burning with it, and the Netanyahu government has no management or strategy.”
According to Ahronot, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir reacted to the fires by threatening Lebanon.
Lebanon in the crosshairs
Ben-Gvir called the failure to bring the fire under control a bankruptcy and threatened to burn Lebanon, saying, “The time has come for all of Lebanon to burn.”
The Israel-based “Ynet” news website pointed out that the fire broke out after a series of rockets fired by Hezbollah in Lebanon on Sunday.
In another report by Ynet, it was pointed out that the fire in the mountain ranges in the Upper Galilee region was intervened by 14 teams and 6 firefighting planes, and that the fires were repeated due to new rockets fired by Hezbollah.
