There has been a flash development in the case regarding the murder of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necip Hablemitoğlu. The court decided to hear Kemalettin Özdemir, alleged to be the former police imam of ‘FETÖ’, as a witness.

There has been an important development in the case regarding the murder of Ankara University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necip Hablemitoğlu in front of his house in Ankara on December 18, 2002.

Former Police Imam of ‘FETÖ’ to be Listened as a Witness

According to NTV, Kemalettin Özdemir, the alleged former police imam of ‘FETÖ’, will testify as a witness in the case.

Background of the Case

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necip Hablemitoğlu, who was working on FETÖ, was shot in the head and murdered in front of his house in Çankaya, Ankara on December 18, 2002. Fetullah Gülen, Mustafa Özcan, Enver Altaylı and Aydın Köstem are on trial for “instigating premeditated murder” in connection with this murder. Retired colonels Levent Göktaş and Ahmet Tarkan Mumcuoğlu and retired major Fikret Emek are also facing aggravated life imprisonment for “premeditated murder”.

Other Defendants and Charges

Former captain Nuri Gökhan Bozkır and ‘FETÖ’ fugitive Serhat Ilıcak are facing up to 20 years in prison for “aiding in the deliberate intentional killing”. In addition, Levent Göktaş’s command sergeant Mehmet Narin is facing up to 4 years in prison for “membership in a criminal organization”.

Course of the Case

The only arrested defendant in the case is Nuri Gökhan Bozkır and the trial will continue on July 16th with a total of 10 defendants.
